Detox Naturally – A Simple Plan
It seems that everyone is doing some sort of detox these days, but few people seem to know exactly what detoxification really means. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to cleansing my body I’d like to detox naturally if at all possible. I’ve heard too many
horror stories about detox plans that have gone wrong and actually have done more harm than good.
If you hear of any plan that has you drinking spicy potions or popping pills designed to clean your insides while you wait patiently on the toilet, I would run the other way. Instead of choosing the plan that’s most popular with celebrities at the moment, do some serious research and choose a program that’s all natural and well thought out.
The way I see it, an extreme plan may give you extreme results, but even if they’re the results you’re looking for, will they be short-lived, or long lasting? Chances are, if you’ve made a radical shift in behavior all of a sudden, it may be very hard to stick with it. I realize that a detoxification routine is supposed to be for a set period of time, but if you choose the correct one, it could signal some lifelong changes that will improve your overall health and well being.
Choosing a natural detox plan that sounds logical to you would be the best way to ensure you can actually stay on the plan once you start. I’ve heard of quite a few plans that involve consuming massive quantities of items that are not normally in your daily diet.
Making changes and leaving your comfort zone is all well and good, but if you stray too far away from the norm your chances of not completing your detoxification increase significantly.
A Sensible Detox Plan – What To Eat And What To Avoid
So what exactly makes up a natural detox plan? While some programs may appear to be related to the latest fad diet, detoxing is much more than losing weight quickly. Although you may lose weight on your particular program, the main goal of a detox plan is to assist your body in ridding itself of years of toxin and chemical build. These unwanted invaders enter our bodies in many ways; through the water we drink and the food we eat, and even the air that we breathe.
Any good plan will recommend certain foods that will stimulate the detoxifying organs in your body, such as the liver. Some things to eat while on a whole body detox include any kind of fresh fruit and virtually all fresh vegetables. Other items, such as everything in the legume family, and lean meats such as chicken or fish are okay too, although in any detox program I’ve ever been involved with, meat is usually limited to once or twice per week.
Olive oil is always on the list of things that are super good for you, and sensible detox plans will include green tea, black tea, and all the water you like. All kinds of nuts are also on the list of good things to eat.
Some foods to avoid include alcohol of any kind, coffee, most milk products except certain kinds of yogurt, and grains. Any kind of sweeteners such as sugar and aspartame, and even honey, should also be avoided. Any form of tobacco products are also considered a no-no, and you should be avoiding those in everyday life anyway. A detoxification not only cleanses the body but the mind as well. You should notice increased concentration and mental sharpness as your body rids itself of toxins and other chemical buildup.
Some people experience a period of feeling nauseous and run down during a detox. While your body is purging itself of unwanted substances, you could feel ill at times. It’s important to stick with the program as you go through these changes, as they should be
temporary in nature.
Detoxing can be a great way to kickstart your metabolism and put you on the right path to good health. Make sure you thoroughly research any plan you’re considering, and only choose one that seems all natural and not too radical.
One such plan that I can recommend is by famous natural nutritionist Yuri Elkaim. Yuri has a program called the Total Wellness Cleanse that helped thousands of people lose weight and jump start their metabolism.
His all natural and sensible approach leads to a high percentage of people finishing the plan once they start it, something that doesn’t always happen with some of the more radical approaches. Mr. Elkaim is a world famous holistic nutritionist and has helped thousands of people increase their overall health and fitness level.
